Conveniently located on the A83 between Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and just minutes from the NCR78, Argyll Backpackers is an amazing purpose-built 'green' hostel with stunning views across Loch Fyne to Cowal, north to the 'Argyll Alps' and south to Arran.
Ideally suited for those en-route by bus, bike or car to Bute, Arran, Islay/Jura or Mull or for those cycling the 'Caledonian Way' and onwards to the 'Hebridean Way'.
Expect a warm welcome with comfortable accommodation across a range of flexible self-catering options. All rooms are ensuite with tea/coffee making facilities and range from 'Private' doubles & twin rooms (in bunks), to 4 & 6 bedded motel-style 'Dorm' rooms. You can even combine 2 , 3 or even 5 rooms to make self-catering 'units' if your group don't want the whole hostel. The 'common-room' lounge/dining areas have access to the patio with more tables/benches, as well as a large FirePit/BBQ which is ideal for toasting your marshmallows while star gazing (no streetlights here).
Free parking, covered/secure bike storage, drying room and WiFi. We even have a special apartment (the "Wee Snug") above the hostel, with its own private access and outside seating area.
Open all year round and ready to welcome singles, couples, families, and groups, so check out Argyll Backpackers own website for more info/ideas and consider this your home-from-home when exploring and adventuring in Argyll.

Hello, I'm Pam. I own and run the hostel - and really was born into the role! My inspiration for designing and building the hostel originated with my parents, who met while hostelling in Scotland during the late 1940s. From a young age, I inherited the hostelling bug, and having stayed in many different hostels over the years both here and abroad, want to offer safe, comfortable, and practical self-catering accommodation on a budget. I love the community ethos of hostelling and encourage my guests to share the highlights of their trip with each other. With so many gems accessible right from our doorstep... I can help you find the best scenic spots for picnics, wildlife watching, exploring historical sites, and enjoying the ancient Scottish culture.
