Glenfinnan Sleeping Car

Heritage railway carriage with many original 1950s features, converted into a unique and comfortable hostel  for up to 10 people. 

Ideal for backpackers and other visitors walking, cycling or using public transport - adjacent to the restored Edwardian-era railway station, with a bus stop just 100 yards/90 metres away.

Close to the Glenfinnan Monument (which commemorates Bonnie Prince Charlie raising the Royal Standard at Glenfinnan in 1745 to start the 3rd Jacobite Rising) and the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter movies.

The Sleeping Car gives you a superb jumping-off point to explore along the famous Road to the Isles (Fort William to Mallaig). 

With access to the mountains, beaches and other stunning wild places of Moidart, Ardnamurchan, Morvern, Knoydart and Ardgour, the Sleeping Car is a wonderful starting point for bothy expeditions and visits to the Small Isles (Rum, Eigg, Canna and Muck), as well as being ideally situated for the link to the Isle of Skye ferry (from Mallaig).Your overnight stay includes free admission to the Glenfinnan Station Museum housed in the station buildings. The Dining Car (another 1950s vintage carriage right next door to the Sleeping Car) does  excellent breakfasts and lunches, or pop in for coffee and cake. Take away meals are also available.

To get to the Sleeping Car by car: turn off the A830 Road to the Isles (Fort William-Mallaig) at Glenfinnan Station, signposted 'Eat, Sleep and Discover'.
