It's near Portsoy's picturesque harbours, the Salmon Bothy Museum (open seasonally), coastal paths and the beach. Portsoy boasts a great mix of shops, cafes, hotels, takeaways and a famous ice cream shop, and is home to the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival held annually in the summer.

The Sail Loft is is to reach from the A98 through Portsoy. After passing the caravan park carry straight on over a small bridge and The Sail Loft is in front of you.

Portsoy Community Enterprise (PCE) are the custodians of The Sail Loft. A social enterprise, PCE seeks to provide economic benefit from tourism for Portsoy and district. The organisation also runs the renowned Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, Salmon Bothy Museum and Meeting Place and Museum, The Boatshed skills training centre and Sail Loft self catering accommodation.
