Scotland is a mainly rural country with a diverse landscape which has much to offer cyclists. From picturesque single track roads to epic off-road biking trails, there is something for everyone.
Road cycling
Scotland is a country of extremes when it comes to road cycling; from the mountains and the steep climbs, to the quiet islands with small passenger ferries that let you island hop at your leisure. Check out Sustrans Scotland National Cycle Network for some classic routes.
Mountain biking
Ride the trails through some of the most amazing scenery in Europe. If you’re into off-roading, our rural hostels are situated in the perfect setting with trails starting at the hostel door or close by. Choose from gentle loch-side trails to more challenging climbing and technical routes.
Gravel biking
If you like your biking traffic free, gravel biking is a good choice. Scotland is criss-crossed with cyclable forest tracks, as well as the historic network of Drovers’ roads. Come and explore them.
Family biking
A wonderful way to have fun as a family, with miles of relatively flat and traffic free routes. Follow old railway lines, canal towpaths and forest trails, through some of Scotland’s finest scenery.
Cycle hire
Our hostel hosts will be able to direct you to the nearest and best bike hire in the area. Some hostels even have bikes available to hire on site.
